In February 2026, at the invitation of the BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre, a delegation from China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) attended the BRICS Working Group Meeting on Competition in Food Markets in Cairo, Egypt.
Organized by the BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre, the meeting brought together competition authorities from BRICS countries, representatives of international organizations, and academic experts. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions under the theme “Tracing the Value Chain: A Joint Market Study on Global Agricultural Trade among BRICS Nations,” focusing on market structures, competition challenges, and avenues for cooperation—with the aim of fostering a fairer, more transparent, and resilient global agricultural trading system.
