A delegation comprising officials from the Department of Certification, the Department of Planning and Finance, China Certification and Accreditation Institute and the Development Research Center of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) made an official visit to Thailand from June 2 to 5, 2026, for consultations on conformity assessment cooperation documents. The mission was aimed at implementing bilateral economic and trade cooperation arrangements, and promoting the establishment of an institutionalized and regularized bilateral mutual recognition mechanism for conformity assessment.

During the visit, the delegation held intensive meetings with Thailand's Department of Land Transport (DLT), the Thailand Automotive Institute (TAI), the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), and Riceland Foods Ltd., and also convened a symposium with Chinese-invested enterprises operating in Thailand. Currently, Chinese brands account for approximately 70% to 80% of Thailand's electric vehicle market. To further facilitate bilateral trade, the delegation actively presented the achievements and effectiveness of China's Compulsory Certification (CCC) system, and engaged in in-depth and practical discussions on promoting mutual acceptance of certification and testing results, as well as equivalence assessment of standards between the two sides.

The delegation noted that China-Thailand cooperation on conformity assessment has progressed from the initial stage of information exchange to a critical phase of institutional alignment. Focusing on key areas including new energy vehicles, food, and agricultural products, SAMR will promote the signing of bilateral mutual recognition memorandums and try to establish a long-term mechanism for dynamic evaluation and dispute resolution, in order to deepen and expand the bilateral economic and trade relations.

The delegation emphasized that the visit not only enhanced Thailand's trust in China's certification system, but also laid a solid foundation for the two sides to reach future agreements on mutual recognition, establish information exchange channels, and support Chinese conformity assessment bodies to "go global." Going forward, SAMR will continue to advance "soft connectivity" with Thailand, providing robust institutional safeguards for Chinese enterprises to deeply cultivate the ASEAN market and achieve high-quality development.
