The 23rd session of the UNCTAD Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy was held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 8 to 10 July 2026. Competition authorities from multiple countries and regions, as well as international organizations, attended the meeting. The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) of China was invited to send a delegation to the session.

The meeting featured exchanges and discussions on topics including the digital economy, artificial intelligence, the impact and benefits of competition law and policy on developing countries, capacity building and technical assistance in competition law and policy, and competition issues in global food value chains. The meeting also collectively reviewed the implementation of Section F of the UN Set of Multilaterally Agreed Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control of Restrictive Business Practices, the report of the Cross-border Cartels Working Group, the draft agreed conclusions of the session, and the agenda for the 24th session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy.

The SAMR delegation actively participated in the discussions, sharing China's experience in fair competition governance, clearly conveying the governance logic of stimulating market vitality and safeguarding innovative development through fair competition, and demonstrating the Chinese government's open stance of deep engagement in global competition governance.
