Chinese Representative Attends the IEC Board 2/2026 Meeting


On June 17-18, the IEC Board (IB) 2/2026 meeting was held in Seoul, the Republic of Korea. Representatives from IEC Board member countries, together with the IEC President and the Secretary-General, attended the meeting. The meeting deliberated on key issues including governance reform, financial management and digital transformation.

The meeting approved the proposed amendments to four clauses of the 2024 edition of the IEC Statutes and Rules of Procedure, which will be submitted to the General Assembly in November for final adoption; adopted the classification and access framework for governing body documentation; approved the audited 2025 IEC statutory results, the 2025 Treasurer’s Memorandum; and approved the President’s stipend for 2026. On digital transformation, the meeting received progress reports on the SMART Standards Initiative, the IEC AI Strategic Framework and Unified Delivery Platform (UDP). The meeting also discussed the selection of the host country for the 2028 General Meeting.

The Chinese IB member actively participated in the discussion of all agenda items, providing views and proposals. It also exchanged views with the IEC President, the IEC Secretary-General and representatives from other member countries on deepening cooperation in standardization. China will continue to take an active part in IEC governance and standardization work, promoting the continuous improvement of the international standards system and contributing China’s expertise to the development of standardization in the global electrotechnical field.
