Chinese Experts Attend ISO Management System Standards Coordination Meeting in Switzerland

The 25th meeting and workshop of the ISO/TBMG/JTCG (Joint Technical Coordination Group on Management System Standards) was recently held in Geneva. A delegation of Chinese experts participated in the event, effectively enhancing China's voice and influence in the field of international management system standards.

The ISO/TBMG/JTCG is a cross-committee coordination body specifically established by the ISO Technical Management Board. It is primarily responsible for ensuring the consistency of global management system standards and reviewing the rationale behind the development and revision of various standards. Unlike other technical committees where seats are allocated by country, membership in this group is held directly by heads of standards development organizations, granting it significant weight within the international standardization system.

During the four-day intensive discussions, Chinese experts actively engaged in key deliberations. With the meeting coinciding with a critical window for adjusting multiple rules, the delegation focused on tracking the progress of revisions to the ISO Directives. They put forward constructive proposals on issues such as the structural alignment of management system standards, terminology specifications, and editorial revisions. Additionally, they conducted in-depth exchanges with representatives from various countries on cutting-edge topics, including the integration of ESG indicators into management systems and the application of artificial intelligence in standard development and auditing, thereby accurately grasping the latest trends in international standardization.

Moving forward, China will fully leverage the outcomes of this meeting. On one hand, it will conduct in-depth analyses of the development patterns of international management system standards to optimize domestic top-level design and seize opportunities in emerging fields. On the other hand, it will actively draw on mature international experience while integrating China's extensive practical knowledge in relevant sectors to formulate more "China proposals," contributing Chinese wisdom to the standardization of global management systems.
