From September 14 to 16, 2026, the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) “100+ Horizon” Conference was held in Sitges, Barcelona, Spain. The conference focused on data, sustainability and supply chain transformation in the consumer goods industry, with discussions on frontier topics including AI applications, the new retail media ecosystem, supply chain operations and multimodal transport, ESG data exchange, and the full implementation of product QR codes. The new work streams under CGF’s Data Driven Value Chain (DDVC) initiative—covering AI, retail media, supply chain operations (including automation and robotics), QR code implementation and ESG data exchange—were key topics of the conference. The event gathered global technology experts and business leaders to jointly evaluate how to best integrate new technologies into existing business processes. GS1 China sent representatives to attend the conference in person.

As the GS1 Member Organisation in China, GS1 China has long been deeply involved in CGF-related activities and has actively promoted international standards alignment and industry practices in product QR codes, supply chain digitalization, ESG data exchange and food safety traceability. During the conference, the delegation participated in plenary sessions and thematic discussions, engaged in in-depth exchanges with international organizations, retailers, manufacturers and technology experts, and shared GS1 China’s practices in building the national product database, developing the traceability system and promoting national product QR code standards. The delegation also followed the latest developments of CGF and GS1 standards, including the GM2D initiative for the transition from linear barcodes to QR codes, and explored international cooperation channels.
