From August 19 to 20, 2026, the 28th plenary meeting of ISO/TC 34/SC 6 on Meat, Poultry, Fish, Eggs and Their Products was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Experts from the China National Institute of Standardization (hereinafter referred to as “CNIS”) and representatives from the China General Chamber of Commerce and other organizations formed the Chinese delegation to the meeting.

The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of ongoing projects and new work item proposals. During the session, Mr. Xi Xingjun, a researcher from CNIS and convenor of Working Group 31 (WG 31) on edible bird's nest, reported to the delegates on the research progress and next‑step work plan for ISO 26269 Edible bird's nest — Product specification.

As the next step, CNIS will continue to work closely with domestic and international experts to advance the activities of WG 31, carry out sample collection of edible bird's nest and comparative studies on test methods for key quality indicators, and actively promote the development of ISO 26269. These efforts will lay a solid foundation for deeper engagement in international standardization work concerning meat, poultry, fish, eggs and their products.
